I bought the Dolby 5.1 codec and if I do not multiplex the video and audio together, the surround sound doesn’t show up at all. I tried creating a DVD with the invidual parts that I rendered and I discovered that the rendered video had video and audio tracks that were of different length, so that when I tried to compile the play list, I ended up with a video that was considerably shorter than the audio. This time, the entire sequence rendered (it took the better part of a week–about 80 hours) and when it was finished, the video galloped along at several times the normal speed and then hung on the last frame. I tried converting all of the video to AVI and recreating the sequence. But… When I take it apart and render the parts individually, ALL of them will render without a problem. When I send it to the Media Encoder, I always get an “unknown error.” I’ve tried different encoding settings, nothing makes any difference. I created a long and complicated sequence. I have had more glitches since I made the switch than Windows ME. I built a brand new machine with an i7 processor and 6 GB of memory. A couple of months ago, I updated from Windows XP pro with Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 to Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
